Liquor May be Quicker Than Castrol in Australia
Australian V8 Supercar owner Larry Perkins, who fields Holden Commodores for his two-car team, for drivers Steven Richards and Paul Dumbrell has switched sponsorship for the 2006 season.
Oil giant Castrol has been the team’s major sponsor since 1993. Perkins Commodores will be branded with Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey as the naming rights sponsor in a three year deal.
As Jack Daniels did in NASCAR they are setting a precedent.This will be the first time any form alcohol sponsorship (beer, wine or liquor) will appear as a sponsor in the countries premier racing series.
Jack Daniels Australia and New Zealand regional director Michael McShane said the company would use the slogan Pace Yourself, Please Drink Responsibly, as a core message in the V8 Supercar Series.

Ummm Sirromet Wines (T E Morris backwards) is a wine label and major sponsor of Paul Morris Racing.
The “Great Race” used to sponsored by Tooheys (Beer).
Mark Skaife/HRT have (had) minor sponsorship with VB (Beer).
Ditto DJR with VB (Beer).
