Warner Brothers Unites With Dick Johnson Racing
One of the world’s greatest motion picture and entertainment groups has joined forces with one of V8 Supercar’s most famous team’s.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), the organisation behind some of the world’s most popular cartoon characters and greatest films, has united with Dick Johnson Racing (DJR).
In 2006, well known Warner Bros. characters from the Wacky Races, including Dick Dastardly, Mutley and Penelope Pitstop, along with the Flintones, will feature on both Dick Johnson Racing Fords.
The number 17 V8 Ford Falcon will feature the Flintstones while car 18 has the Wacky Races characters.
An exciting range of merchandise, featuring the Flintstones and Wacky Races characters, will be made available at the track from the DJR merchandise site, and from the DJR museum in Queensland, at the start of the 2006 season.
“This is one of the most exciting opportunities that Dick Johnson Racing has ever been involved in,” DJR General Manager Steve Chalker said.
“The characters are fun, exciting, entertaining and competitive, very much like DJR and V8 Supercars.”
“A partnership with Warner Bros. gives DJR the opportunity to take V8 Supercars to a completely new audience.”
“DJR will sell Wacky Races and The Flintstones merchandise from the track and at the museum.”
“It is a sensational opportunity to get families to the race track and to increase interest in Dick Johnson Racing.”
The General Manager of Warner Bros. was similarly upbeat about the sponsorship.
“It’s great to be involved in V8 Supercars and to have a direct association with one of the sport’s most famous teams, Dick Johnson Racing,” Warner Bros. Consumer Products General Manager Helen Thompson said.
“Like Dick Johnson Racing, Warner Bros. is involved in the entertainment industry.”
“Warner Bros. sees V8 Supercars as a new, untapped audience. We are reaching over two million people at the track and millions more at home in front of the television each year.”
“A day at the V8’s is very much a family outing, much like going to one of our theme parks. Having a presence is definitely something new and adds a further attraction to the sport.”
“The Flintstones are about the family unit while the Wacky Races characters focus on racing and competition, which is similar to how V8 Supercar events are marketed.”
“We are confident that the opportunities that lay ahead, for Warner Bros.”, Dick Johnson Racing, and the people that attend V8 Supercar events, will be enjoyed by all.”
