Aussie Looks to Break into NASCAR
Gold Coast businessman Craig Gore is believed to be making overtures to buy an American NASCAR team.
Details of how Gore intends to break into NASCAR are sketchy however there are suggestions that it could be based around a travelling road show concept that would provide a platform to “sell” Australian companies and their products to the US market.
A little more than two years ago Gore’s only involvement in motor racing was as a guest at the Gold Coast Indy.
Owning a NASCAR squad would add to the extensive American interests Gore has compiled over a short time including Champ Car, Atlantic and Formula BMW teams.
Together with his domestic ventures that include V8 Supercar (WPS Racing), Carrera Cup and Aussie Car involvement Gore’s ventures run into an estimated $20 million annual bill. NASCAR alone would exceed that amount.
V8 Supercar racing has helped Gore’s financial services company Wright Patton Shakespeare turnover a reported $400 million. (SOURCE: Melbourne Herald Sun)
