Adam Khan Awaits Medical Decision

A1 Team Pakistan driver Adam Khan missed qualifying for the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Durban after being hospitalised following an accident at Turn 4 of the new street circuit in the Saturday morning practice session and the team has elected to wait until Sunday morning to make a decision on whether the will take part in the races or not.

Khan climbed out of his crashed car unaided, but it was decided to take him to hospital for a precautionary CT scan. Team manager David Sears said that they might have over-reacted slightly in Adam’s treatment, as though he had had a high-speed road accident, and he was taken back to his hotel my 17:00 to sleep off the effect of the anti-inflamatories given to him.

“Providing Adam feels OK tomorrow morning,” said Sears, “then of course we’d want Adam to race. If not, then we have been given permission to use A1 Team Australia’s second driver Christian Jones as a possible replacement.”

On the plus side, A1 Team Pakistan have followed the example of A1 Team Malaysia (Proton) and A1 Team South Africa (Telkom) in unveiling a new sponsor this weekend, with energy drink Aquis new to the fold.
