McIntyre Loses NZ V8 Championship Lead to Rules Infraction
NZ V8 Championship leader John McIntyre has had the book thrown at him for a breach in the engine regulations.
McIntyre and fellow Ford driver Paul Pedersen have lost all the points they gained with the illegal engine, plus an additional 20 points and a $420 fine.
The Hydraulink Racing driver goes from first to eighth on the NZ V8 Championship table and Pedersen goes from sixth to 32nd with only one round remaining.
Both drivers’ teams will be appealing the verdict and will be hopeful of a positive outcome ahead of the V8 Supercar round at Pukekohe on April 21-23, which doubles as the NZ V8 series finale.
