Greg Murphy’s Car Rebuilt For Second Pukekohe Race
Pukekohe hero Greg Murphy will take his place on the grid for Sunday’s second race of the V8 Supercars.
Murphy (SuperCheap Auto Racing Holden) was taken out in a heavy crash on the first corner of Saturday’s opening race at Pukekohe Park Raceway.
The team worked through the night to make major repairs to the car. They straightened the chassis and have rebuilt the front half of the car including a new front end and replacement engine.
His team completed the rebuild at 7.30 Sunday morning after an all-night operation to allow the defending New Zealand round winner to take part in the second race.
Murphy will start at the rear of the grid for the reverse grid race.
