Karavanz 4 Kidz: Caravan, Boat And Dunny Derby at Parramatta

It’s on again, the annual “Karavanz 4 Kidz” - Caravan, Boat & Dunny Derby this Saturday night at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway. Caravans will be crashed - Boats will be bashed - Dunnies will be destroyed! The colossal carnage all in the name of fun whilst raising funds for the kids at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Each year the ‘Fab Fender Benders’ let loose with the craziest, most spectacular, carnage riddled, caravan crushing antics as each of the caravans, boats or dunnies are towed behind Holden or Ford Fender Bender cars at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway. The idea, for each driver to destroy the competitions caravan, boat or dunny.

The winner is the last caravan, boat or dunny standing!

… And The Children’s Hospital at Westmead!

Sponsorship is raised from supporting businesses for each Caravan, Boat or Dunny; in addition to fundraising on the night.

If you have never seen, or heard of a Caravan, Boat or Dunny Derby - this is how it works:

The Holden and Ford Fender Bender Speedway cars all start with a Caravan, Boat or Dunny towed behind.

Each driver aims to destroy the oppositions Caravan, Boat or Dunny, whilst ensuring theirs remains intact.

There ain’t no precision - just a colossal of collisions!

In the end, the winner is the one driver that still has their Caravan, Boat or Dunny in one piece; whilst everyone else has theirs shattered into shrapnel all over the racetrack.

“It is the most light-hearted approach to motor racing in Australia,” said Tyrepower PCR Managing Director Steven Green, “the kids absolutely love it, and we do it all for the kids at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.”

The Karavanz 4 Kidz - Caravan, Boat & Dunny Derby was founded two years ago has developed a reputation that has quickly swept Sydney.

“All of the proceeds we raise go direct to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead,” elaborated Green. “Many businesses have been keen to support through sponsorship, in addition to monies raised on the night.

“The 800 horsepower two-seater Sprintcar ride is always a very popular attraction here at the speedway. Raffle tickets will be sold at $5 to the public (over the age of 16), with one lucky spectator getting their backside in a Sprintcar on that night, with all proceeds going The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.”

Since the inception of the ‘Karavanz 4 Kidz’ in 2004, raising vital funds for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, race fans at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway and associated sponsors of the event have made a staunch effort.

In 2005, the Speedway community raised even more money.

In 2006, we want to go one better, again!

All monies received, whether it by cheque or cash are noted in The Children’s Hospital Acknowledgement Book (in triplicate), with a copy held by the donor whilst waiting for the receipt.

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead admits over 26,000 children each year with over 500,000 visits occurring in outpatient clinics.

Any donations you make have a profound effect on the care and treatment they can provide to our seriously ill children.

It certainly is a night for the kids at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway with children twelve and under entering free when accompanied by a paying adult, with free face painting and jumping castle to complete the comical night of carnage.

On the serious side of racing, Australia’s best do battle for the prestigious Bikebiz 50 Lap Speedcar Classic, duly supported by the V8 Super Sedans and V8 Dirt Modifieds.

Racing begins at 7pm at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway at Wentworth St, Granville on Saturday April 29 with tickets available at the gate. Further information available on the raceway’s website.
