Dado Pena Cops Round 4 Asian Formula 3 Win

Dado Pena took the lead from Tyson Sy on the last corner of the last lap after the pair had swapped the lead several times in the previous four corners. Ali Jackson led into that lap but a mechanical gremlin saw him slump to third. Satrio Hermanto won the Promotions Class from LouMeng Cheong.

Jackson made the best of his pole position and swept into a lead he was to hold until the last lap. A few car lengths behind Tyson Sy and Dado Pena fought for second place for the entire race until Pena found a gap and forced his way past into turn four. Jackson’s lead was just over a second going into the final lap when he slowed suddenly out of turn four. Pena and Sy swept past and proceeded a great race for the lead. Pena ran wide out of turn 7 allowing Sy alongside but the door was firmly shut. Again Pena ran wide out of turn ten and this time Sy forced his way past into the following hairpin. It looked like Sy had won the race but Pena made a do or die effort into the final turn and dived past into the lead and a fantastic race win. Jackson crawled across the line in third with James Winslow fourth.

LouMeng took the lead of the Promotions Class at the start whilst Gaby Dela Merced stalled at the start. Satrio Hermanto spent the race hunting down LouMeng and found a way past with two laps to go. Dela Merced finished third.

Tomorrows race will be very interesting with the top three’s best lap times being within one tenth of each other.
