Asian F3 Contender Hurt in Road Accident
Ali Jackson has seen his hopes of overhauling James Winslow for the Asian Formula Three Championship take a major blow when he suffered a broken arm in a road car accident back in his native Ireland.
Having led the championship going into the five-race round at Sentul, Winslow’s clean sweep of all the races has put him 26 points up in the championship standings with only one round at the Batangas circuit (BRC) in the Philippines still to go.
Although he is anticipating being able to compete in the final round of the series, Jackson is expected to be somewhat compromised, although he can take heart from Moreno Soeprapato, who also suffered a car accident earlier in the week, only for the Indonesian driver to come back well to take part in the A1 Grand Prix rookie session at Zandvoort.
We were shocked to hear of Ali’s accident after Moreno’s crash on Saturday,” said Jackson’s Aran Racing team principal Noel Thompson. “To have two drivers crash in one week is unheard of.
We are glad both are fine, Moreno tested in the A1GP rookie session at Zanvoort last Friday and showed no effects from the crash. Ali is extremely fit which should help him heal quickly. We hope that both are in flying form for the last round in BRC.”
