Scandal Hits Kiwi Toyota Series

There is an alleged scandal in the New Zealand motor racing world with accusations robberies have been used to fund a campaign in the Toyota Racing Series.

The fourth round of the series gets underway this weekend in Taupo as a curtain-raiser to the A1 Grand Prix but Wellington driver Jayant Singh is unlikely to be represented.

Singh is being held in custody on charges over two robberies involving almost $200,000, understood to have been used to fund his campaign.

He is currently 13th in the series.

His profile on the series website suggests he’s the “ultimate kiwi battler”, who, with friends and family, “improvises enough” to make the starting grid at each round.

Just how much “improvisation” has been used looks set to be argued in the courts.
