Oshima Sets Record in Official F3 Suzuka Test

14 Mar 2007 - Toyota’s ace Kazuya Oshima (TOM’S) took the top again with course record breaking lap in the second day of All-Japan Formula 3 Championship official test at Suzuka Circuit.

Test was performed with better condition than the first day, and each TOM’S drivers Oshima, Oliver Jarvis and Hiroaki Ishiura showed excellent performance.

In the morning, Oshima spun out and the session was stopped by it, however Oshima drove his TDP TOM’S F307 which used new spec engine 1AZ-FE aggressively and recorded new (unofficial) course record 1′53.189 just after re-start.
The second place was Honda’s ace Kodai Tsukakoshi, but there is about 0.8 second gap. Ishiura was the third. Honda drivers, Takuya Izawa (Honda Team Real) and Yuki Nakayama (Honda Toda Racing) followed them in their home circuit.

In the afternoon, Oshima quit the session by machine trouble and could not break his course record, however any driver could not break it too.
After all, TOM’S drivers, Oshima, Jarves and Ishiura monopolized top three. Honda drivers, Tsukakoshi and Izawa finish the test with the fourth and fifth.

The opening round of 2007 All-Japan Formula 3 Championship will be held as Formula Nippon support race at Fuji Speedway on 31 Mar and 1 Apr.
