Holdens Dominate Winton Qualifying

Holden is poised to maintain its dominance of the V8 Supercar championship, with Todd Kelly and Garth Tander to start from the front row of the grid for today’s round four opening race at Winton Raceway.

Kelly edged out Tander by 0.005sec for pole position during today’s qualifying session, clocking a 1min 23.4973sec lap.

Fellow Holden driver Jason Richards was third fastest in 1min 23.5698sec, with defending champion and series leader Rick Kelly to start from seventh on the grid.

Holden took eight of the top 10 grid positions for the opening race this afternoon.

Ford’s best runner in qualifying was Mark Winterbottom, who will start alongside Richards on the second row after clocking the fourth fastest time of 1min 23.7103sec.

Jason Bright was the only other Ford driver to make the top 10 as 10th fastest.

Leading Ford hope Craig Lowndes continued his disappointing season to date, qualifying 12th.

Races two and three will be held tomorrow.
