NEW DELHI: India’s youngest racing sensation, Ashwin Sundar has got a three-year sponsorship offer from leading German racing team Ma Con Motor Sports.

Seventeen-year-old Ashwin, champion in two classes of the JK Tyre National racing championship, would now be racing in the prestigious German formula Volkswagen ADAC Championship 2008.

Ma Con Motorsports conducted testing sessions for the selection of two out of the eight drivers from Britain, European Union countries and Ashwin.

The Indian driver put up a sterling effort and was duly rewarded by the German company for it.

“For me, it’s a dream come true,” said Ashwin, confessing that he was more nervous facing media persons than participants on the racetrack.

“It is a great platform and I never expected it to come so soon,” said the soft-spoken teenager who pursues his academics through correspondence.

Marian Hamprecht, owner of the Ma Con Motorsport team, said, “we are very happy to have Ashwin Sundar in our team for the next three years.

He has shown immense talent by winning the testing sessions held in Germany in February 2008 at Ma Con Motorsports own test circuit. His progress has been clearly evident and culminated into his successful entry into the team”.

Ashwin is the reigning champion in formula LGB Swift class and formula LGB Hyundai class in National racing championship. He has also raced in Asia road racing championship and finished first runner-up in under-21 class (115cc, 4-stroke category).

Ashwin has also become the Indian national racing champion in two-wheelers category and was declared as ‘champion of champions’ in 2006.
