Black Beauty Hits the Track

One of the most enigmatic liveries hit the track in A1GP Powered by Ferrari guise at Donington Park – that of A1 Team New Zealand.

Black Beauty was one of the most striking car designs in the first three A1GP seasons because of its sleek and distinctive all-black paint scheme, and the latest A1GP Powered by Ferrari version was just as impressive. The car has been running this week as part of official testing at Donington Park in Great Britain.

Chris van der Drift, who was fastest in the rookie session at Brands Hatch in May, was recalled to test the car.

He was impressed with the new 600bhp machine, and told A1GP.com: “I didn’t have so much experience in the old car, but even I know that this car is just on a completely different page – it’s a massive step forward for A1GP. But the New Zealand car is definitely the best looking car out there. It’s stunning.”

The team has yet to announce its driver line-up for the new season, but multiple race winner Jonny Reid is understandably favourite to return. However, van der Drift said he would also love to form part of the squad.

“I’m not too sure at this stage if I will be involved, and we’ll have to take it as it comes,” he added. “But I’d love to be part of the team - it would be awesome. A1GP this season is going to be fantastic.”
