Al Musalam to Make V8 Debut with Team Kiwi Racing
Fahad Al Musalam will be the first Middle Eastern driver to participate in the Australian V8 Supercars Championship Series, starting with the Gulf Air Desert 400 which gets underway on Thursday at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
Following talks between the BIC and Team Kiwi Racing, it was confirmed that he was invited to race for the New Zealand outfit after his exceptional performance in Winton Raceway with the Garry Rogers Motorsport team.
Al Musalam had tested with the GRM team in Australia last May as part of his prize after winning the Lumina CSV ME championship where he impressed many people, among them was Team Kiwi Racing.

“I will be racing next to the best Australian drivers with all their experience, but I aspire to start, finish and perform to the best of my ability.”
Having tested with the Garry Rogers Motorsport team aboard a right-hand drive Holden, Al Musalam will now be driving a Ford as part of the Team Kiwi Racing outfit.
Al Musalam thanked Team Kiwi Racing for appreciating his talent and making his dream a reality. He is looking forward to meeting the team and drivers and hopes to make the Kingdom proud.
Meanwhile, Jack Perkins from Jack Daniel’s Racing team was the first V8 driver to touch down into the Kingdom for the upcoming event
Jack Perkins, son of six-time V8 winner Larry, and other BIC staff welcomed the driver at the airport yesterday.
More drivers including Will Davison, Steve Johnson and Todd Kelly are arriving in the island tonight.
The teams and drivers are making their way back to the kingdom for the third consecutive year.
The staff are being based at the airport round the clock to ensure drivers and teams are given a warm welcome and have the necessary support from the minute they land, a service all international drivers and teams have greatly appreciated over the last five years.
The Australian V8 Supercars Championship was first made hugely popular throughout Australasia and has quickly picked up even greater popularity worldwide as the touring series spreads to Bahrain.
With plenty on the agenda this year, three support events will sideline the world-class touring championship, including the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, Batelco 2000CC Challenge and DHL Gulf Radical Cup. Entertainment, games and activities will also be on the list of things to do on race
