The 2008 Dubai Motorsport Festival will take place at Dubai Autodrome on 14 & 15 November 2008. This year the Festival takes on a distinctly local flavor and will be a celebration of UAE motorsport.

Two days of action packed racing and entertainment is on the cards for race fans and a superb opportunity for corporate entertainment of the highest level.

“We want to encourage more people to come and be part of motorsport in the UAE,” stated Peter Burns, the marketing manager at the Dubai Autodrome.

Action on the circuit will consist of the Yellow Hat Touring Cars Championship, featuring the best Saloon car drivers in the region in what is expected to be a big and impressive field. Doing battle will be Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Seat, BMW, Corvette, VW GTi in the hands of top drivers all focused on winning.

The Gulf Radical Cup, a pan-Gulf championship for lightweight sports racers returns from the Desert 400 V8 Supercar event in Bahrain to make its annual appearance at the Dubai Motorsport Festival on Saturday, 15th November. Now in its third season, this fast growing championship features ‘Le Mans’ prototype sports racers built by the UK’s leading racing car manufacturer, Radical Sportscars.

With similar Radical Cup race series in Europe and the USA, drivers are offered the extraordinary opportunity to drive these high downforce style high downforce slicks and wings cars on some of the best circuits in the world.

Also on hand this weekend will be the UAE Sportbike Championship and Stunt man Craig Jones.

Jones is best known for his feat of entering the Guinness Book of Records when he beat his own record for the world’s longest stoppie in August 2003.

Using a new Buell XB12R, Jones carried a distance on the front wheel of 266 metres after taking off from a speed of 210 kilometres per hour.

Off-track activities will include an Extreme Motion show customization display, motorcycle and car club displays and parades, and fun events for children.
