Jason Bright Out To Finish V8 Season On A High

Fujitsu Racing’s Jason Bright has plenty of reasons to finish the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship with a strong result at the final round at Sydney’s Oran Park on 4-7 December.

The NRMA Motoring & Services Grand Finale will be the last time the V8s race at Oran Park, while for Bright it will be the last event that the Fujitsu Racing team will be run and prepared by his own Britek Motorsport operation.

From 2009 the Fujitsu Racing entry will be run under the Britek name, but all preparation and maintenance will be done by Stone Brothers Racing.

“There is plenty of emotion going into the Oran Park race weekend,” said Bright.

“The circuit has a very special place in Australian motor racing and everyone competing is keen to make their mark in their last visit.

“With it for now being the last time that we compete as a full Britek prepared entry, the entire team is very keen to go out on a high.

“I have to say the professionalism of the team has been outstanding since we made the Stone Brothers Racing announcement prior to the Bahrain round.

“As an owner and driver, it makes me very proud. I will give it everything to reward those who have worked and supported us.”

Chief Engineer Geoff Slater is confident that the Oran Park layout will suit the Fujitsu Racing Falcon.

“Oran Park requires a car with a responsive chassis and that is what we have,” said Slater.

“The chassis, plus the addition of a Stone Brothers Racing engine has provided a lift. Those things combined can put as well inside the top-10.

“It is a hard track to pass on, so qualifying towards the front will be critical. Our race pace will be very good. “Despite the 2009 announcement, I have to back Jason’s comments that the team has been working very well over the last month.

“I’m sure this final round will be one that we can all be proud of.”

Teams hit the track for practice on Friday, followed by qualifying and the opening 55-lap race on Saturday. Sunday concludes the season with another two 55-lap races.
