Tasman Motorsport Must do Soul Searching
Sydney Based Tasman Motorsport is looking to form at least one significant alliance in time for the next V8 Supercar season.
The 2008 V8 Supercars season has concluded, with Tasman Motorsport’s New Zealand pair of Greg Murphy and Jason Richards finishing the season 16th and 17th.
Murphy finished the season with a “did not finish” in the last race at Sydney’s Oran Park circuit.
Murphy says they do not know why all the effort and money is not creating better results. He says they need to have a good sit down with everybody and go through areas that are of concern, but putting a finger on the problem right now is difficult.
Murphy says next season they are looking hard at creating a new association with a current rival so they can participate in data sharing. He points out that the teams that have associations with other teams, and have four or more cars working together and sharing data, seem to get better gains.
Best of the New Zealand drivers in the championship was Fabian Coulthard, who finished 13th, with Shane van Gisbergen completing the season in 15th. place.
Former Tasman driver Jamie Whincup was confirmed as the 2008 champion on Saturday.
