Edoardo Mortara signs for Arden
Formula 3 Euro Series runner-up Edoardo Mortara is to make his GP2 debut with Arden in this weekend’s Sakhir races.
The 22-year-old tested for the team last autumn, and will race alongside Luiz Razia for the rest of the GP2 Asia series, occupying the car previously driven by Mika Maki and Renger van der Zande.
“As a rookie, I am determined to learn and progress in this new category,” said Mortara. “I am sure Arden will support me in this new venture.”
Autosport.com understands that Mortara is likely to stay on with Arden for the main GP2 championship this summer.
The Italian was the top rookie in the 2007 F3 Euro Series and Nico Hulkenberg’s closest title rival last year. He also took second place in the 2008 Macau Grand Prix.
