Aussie Racing Cars Expands Season

Aussie Racing Cars are set to hit Winton on 27/28th June in a huge way for round 3 of the Aussie Racing Cars Super series with a mammoth on track opportunity for all drivers to really get back in to the action after the break since attending the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix supports back in March.

The first sessions for the cars will be on Friday when 4 sessions are scheduled for testing and unofficial practice.

Drivers will be kept on their toes during Saturday with official practice and qualifying sessions leading up to the first race followed by a whopping program including 3 races on Sunday.

The event format has been hailed by all competitors in the category as a breath of fresh air as they see it as a fantastic opportunity to really get a lot of seat time which can be a limitation at some of the higher profile events.

“We are delighted to have the Aussie Racing Cars competing at the Shannon’s meeting as it will add another aspect to our very successful event format and offer another level of interest to the Nationals” said event director Rob Curkpatrick.

This will be the first time that Aussie Racing Cars has appeared on the Shannon’s Nationals program and the traditionally large fields that the category is so well known for is entered.

The competitors really love racing at Winton as the track configuration really sits well with the fast and nimble Aussie Racing Car chassis design’ explains Category boss Phil Ward, “The cars achieve grip levels akin to an open wheeler so the tight and twisty nature of the Winton layout is the perfect environment for drivers to really hone their racing skills. Every time we go there the closeness of the racing is second to none and I anticipate this time it will be no different particularly with the large amount of on track time that is programmed.”

If you miss the racing action at the track it will be will be shown on Television in the popular Speed Week program.
