Garth Tander Takes Race 2 Win

After the hustle and bustle of the opening race of the Nikon SuperGP, the second, or as its officially known by V8 Supercars, Race 19B was a tame affair with no Safety cars and a start to finish green flag race.

Taking advantage was Toll Holden Racing Teams Garth Tander who snatched the lead into turn one. Whilst he lost the lead during the pit stops but was able to regain it on the track to claim a win on the weekend of his 150th V8 Supercar start.

Tander lead home Race one winner Mark Winterbottom, who fended off a late challenge from the sister Toll Holden Racing car of Will Davison.

As it happens the results of race 2 meant, that the combined podium was in fact the same as the finishing order of this race. Whilst Tander and Winterbottom were equal points with 144 points for the day, the race 2 win snared the top step and the surfboard for Tander.

Davision himself was under pressure until the end from Team Vodafone car of Craig Lowndes with Greg Murphy of Sprint Gas Racing rounding out the top 5.

Russell Ingall was a early retirement after 11 laps with what appeared to be mechanical problems.
