AUSTRALIAN GT is the premier sportscar category in Australia and not only does it play host to the world’s most exotic marques, they can be found racing door to door on the countries best and undoubtedly some of the world’s greatest circuits.

A rolling start and a clean first lap got race one of the Australian GT Championship underway, with Porsche 911 driver Max Twigg leading the Dodge Viper of Greg Crick, Peter Hackett’s Lamborghini and the Porsche 911 of David Wall through the first few laps.

Sydney drivers David Wall and Mat Sofi were among the success stories at Eastern Creek Raceway in Round Seven of the Shannons Nationals.

Craig Baird has qualified on pole for Race 1 of the Vodka O Australian GT Championship to be held at Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit tomorrow (Friday March 27, 2009) as part of the FORMULA 1 ING Australian Grand Prix.

Melbourne drivers Mark Eddy and Darren Hossack were among six national champions crowned at Sandown Raceway today in the final round of the Shannons Nationals, while Allan Simonsen and Nick O’Halloran won the Sandown GT Classic.

Melbourne based team Trofeo Motorsport has today confirmed its entry into the final round of the Australian GT Championship scheduled for Sandown Raceway over the November 29/30 weekend.

Astuti Motorsport has broken though for their first win as a team in the Australian Championship after John Kaias took his Aston Martin DBRS9 to the overall victory in round four of the 2008 championship held at Eastern Creek Raceway.
