The stage has been set for a spectacular 2008 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia championship- decider with Team StarChase driver Christian Menzel taking Class A pole position for the first of Sunday’s two races at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Carrera Cup Australia has attracted many famous racing identities throughout its six-year history and at the Nikon Indy 300 this weekend another will be added to the list.
With two races remaining in the 2008 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season, the four Class A championship contenders are separated by just seven points after Round 10, meaning that a tight and exhilarating finish to the season in Bahrain next month is guaranteed.
GruppeM Racing’s Tim Sugden took pole position for the second time in as many races, as the Briton narrowly grabbed the top position ahead of Clarksons’ Christian Jones, beating the Australian by just three one-hundredths of a second. Team StarChase’s Christian Menzel and Team Jebsen’s Darryl O’Young will comprise the second row of the grid for tomorrow’s Round 10, in support of the 2008 Formula 1™ Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix.
