A1 Team Great Britain’s Danny Watts claimed pole position for Sunday’s Feature race in A1GP Chengdu, China posting the fastest lap of the weekend so far, a 1m 15.325s. Adam Carroll put in a great performance to take Ireland’s maiden A1GP pole position for tomorrow morning’s Sprint race.
The A1GP cars took to the Chengdu International Circuit in China for the first time Friday. Nicolas Prost started the day as the quickest rookie and reigning champion Switzerland set the pace this afternoon with Neel Jani’s time of 1m 16.349s.
As the A1 Teams made their final preparations for round two of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport in Chengdu, China next week it was the home event team and A1 Team Portugal who tested for the first time in the UK at Silverstone today. They were joined by the teams from Brazil, France, Korea and Switzerland, with the latter setting the pace in the A1GP Powered by Ferrari car.
A1GP World Cup of Motorsport was in action again today in Silverstone, Northamptonshire, UK with some teams taking the opportunity to get some extra track time ahead of the second round of the season A1GP Chengdu, China 7 – 9 November.
Neel Jani clinched the A1GP title for Team Switzerland at Brands Hatch today and spoke to autosport.com about the keys to their success and the future of the series.
